Truckers form a 12 hour line at the border, the drama that just won't quit!

Imagine driving a truck all your life and thinking you know how to handle a global viral outbreak better than doctors.

Yes, the doctors are the ones legislating and enforcing mandates. Look, just trust the fricking science okay?

They won't get away with this policy supported by the majority of people!

Remember, vaccinated people = pro mandate people

It’s just a temper tantrum by some racist morons.

Race card again :marseyyawn:

The best drama imo is the redditor delusion of TECHNOLOGY replacing the entire ground delivery network of North America in TwoMoreYears™.

All that I'll say is be careful what you wish for. There are a bunch of old white guys in a room right now planning to eliminate truck drivers and I guarantee they are calling all of the self driving software companies and trying to determine how fast they can have their software ready to go!

Should be ready to ship soon, sir! Just a few bugs to iron out.

Are you seriously advocating for A.I. replacing jobs as a “win-win”?

Yes

:#soyquack:

And hopefully less carbon emission. I imagine that the self driving trucks will run on battery power and not diesel fuel

Hey, how's Nikola doing again?

I'd take a robot truck driver over a seditious meth-head independent business owner with a truck any fricking day.

thinking AI replacing you at your job means communism comes next

Seriously if there are any wagies on this site reading this, find some kind of job that you know a high school robotics project couldnt replace you in. Do it now. You are not safe.

Walking up an uneven slope. Not turning into an expletive-spewing maniac after a day of exposure to 4chan comments. Stacking boxes on a shelf. Recognizing faces with painted markings. Navigating a crowd.

Youd be stunned how many jobs that still encompasses, with some basic equipment and a fresh marketing campaign to change peoples minds.

Imagine a redbox machine but for mcdonalds burgers, with a skeleton crew of staff to keep the cheese dispenser from jamming.

HR being replaced with a chatbot.

You can probably get rid of the entire staff at a movie theater, save for a fat security guard and a guy to pick the gum out of the cup holders.

For the average low IQ moron, the only jobs left will be rebooting PoS tablets and standing the JannieBot3000 back on its feet after rolling over a baby.

Sure im exaggerating and being silly, but things are going to get a lot less human in the near future. Things many will eventually cope and seethe and inevitably put up with. Reminds me of that joe rogan bit about the mountain of marbles or whatever.

I mean, yeah, I'm not disputing that automation's role will expand in low-skill workplaces. Also, I thought you were talking about all jobs.

HR being replaced with a chatbot.

HR isn't being replaced with chatbots. They'll remain around the same size and use chatbots as an additional layer to gather preliminary information and take care of low-hanging fruit.

Most of the time automation enhances existing processes to enhance productivity. I.e. the same thing capital has been doing for two hundred years.

Nah im not stupid. Had a great argument a year or two back with a programmer about that though. I dont think a third party "AI" entity will ever be capable of understanding how to even remotely fix basic issues with PCs. Humans will always be more efficient at a number of tasks. Microsoft's network troubleshooter has worked maybe twice in the past ten years for me.

HR isn't being replaced with chatbots.

Depends. I can see 90% of HRs duties being boiled down to forms on the internet. Depends what company we're talking about though.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, most “automation” entails just taking an existing work flow of forms and fields that get filled out, identifying where people literally get that information and integrating those fills with each other, then maybe some straight forward statistical analysis on top of decisions where people were doing that analysis anyway.

It’ll kill some absolute deadweights overall (more on the personnel level rather than org structure tier) but I don’t see some fundamental automation of entire traditional org structures being replaced any time soon

Youre mistaken about the relationship between wagie and robot of the future

(Does anyone have the story of the robot knocking over glasses and then calling the wagie?)

Stacking boxes on a shelf.

Doesn't Amazon have robots for this?

They have robots for shuffling stuff around and maybe placing it in very controlled environments, but as far as I'm aware, just taking something and sticking it on a random shelf that isn't properly marked and specially designed is still very difficult for a robot.

It's taken billions of dollars and years of specialized research and development to produce a robot that can do this. Even then, try having that thing operate in a dynamic, unstructured environment and see how well it performs.

This is something I think about a lot

This morning, Cum went to the park. I went with Coom. And Cum brought Coomer frisbee. At least I think it was Coomers. By the end of the day, Cum started throwing the frisbee to Cumself.

Mass automation will never lead to the fully automated luxury space communism that plebbit dreams of. It's far more likely that once a tipping point is reached the machines will simply be used to slaughter all the uppity obsolete labor. Never forget that this is the elites' world, we're only living in it because they need us.
