I intensely dislike Ford and politicians of his ilk, but this is the right thing to do - shouldn't be any controversy over it. From a secular government point of view, why would they be treated any differently than other refugees?

I don't mind sunset clauses on refugee status, five years after the war ends it's time to go back - but let's not be peepees to anyone of any colour or religion (including whites and Christians) during the literal emergency wherein their cities are being shelled and they face imprisonment from a new regime.
