been playing elden ring but honestly it's not very fun. it's like they designed every enemy to annoy the shit out of you.

Understandable. A lot of it deals with knowing what type of enemies are in the area and what their strengths or weaknesses are. Fleshy shits get daggers and swords while armored/scaled mobs get the whollop from my flail or axe/hammer. Took me a while to get the concept and balance my weapon loadout without fat rolling but ive found myself getting through zones easier now :)

you don't really need more than one weapon, but colossal weapons are such dogshit they might as well not exist. i feel like doing a full respec and i'm not even far into the game.

I just like changing up my flavor ig; been rolling around with upgraded Bloodhound assassins curved sword and ive been two shotting beefy boys with weapon art lol but prior to that i had been using the flail for that bleed buildup and pop
Unless you use the summons provided the early game can be pretty punishing and for good reason imo; they've geared this game more for cooperative combat rather than solo. Not to say one couldnt do it themselves solo however; just seems a few bosses do require punishing which is only available with multiple heavy hitters chaining attacks for you to even find a good window to eat their health.

i don't like coop or spirits because it dumbs down the fight way too much. just not a fan of the delayed swings with increased active frames, aoes and projectiles, and the ridiculous tracking and zooming into your face. wrt bosses. it makes the fights flow like trash and generally a chore. recently i was fighting the dragonkin soldier and the frickton of whiffing and tracking failure was also pretty bad. i guess i need to explore more and find better weapons.

Understandable. I hated the concept of summoning spirits but at one point i got frustrated enough to just want to progress that bringing in the marionettee archers was enough to give me room for error.
The delay behind the telegraphed swings is a huuuuuuuuuge curve. Im so used to fighting styles where they just wail into you and give you no room, only to exhuast themselves and leave the window of opportunity. Ive only noticed one boss so far that has generally done this throughout their own power attacks.
All in all i hope you find something that suits you and you end up enjoying it a bit more!
