All three cars are patrician choice even down to the colour choice, go off king.

Why did you keep the E90 tho, sentimental value?

Aside from being underpowered it’s just an absolute joy to drive and has been nearly Toyota Corolla reliable. It’s got an M3 suspension swap and a 3.0is intake manifold for an extra 35ish hp. I have a six-speed manual waiting to swap into it but I just don’t have the time to do it.

The M440i GranCoupe is it’s replacement. At the moment I’m just getting everything together to sell it and taking care of any preventative maintenance issues that might come up so some kid doesn’t buy it then get hit with a $3k repair bill.

Oh, it also has the powered rear window shades that you can’t get anymore. It’s like window tint for classy people.

There’s also an E39 540i/6 MSport hiding in the garage and an E36 M3 sedan stashed across the street.

I've driven an E60 (530D) as my first car for a few years out of highschool, It was super dependable too and I thought unreliable BMWs were just a meme.

Then I bought a F32 435i after finishing university and regret it everyday. Spent more on it in a year then I've spent in 4 years on the 5er, even though that was older and with twice as many kms. But if you can afford it it's a great car. Whoever designed the N55 shouldn't pass their genes to the next generation.

That generation diesel you had pulls like a freight train, especially with some minor tweaks.

The E90 was originally my dad’s. He wanted to replace his E46 330i ZHP that he’d racked up around 200k miles on due to his commute. He really wanted a 335is but didn’t feel comfortable spending that much during the recession, especially after taking a bet on buying a property in Florida.

When he went to the dealer the 328i was in the showroom as a special order that someone rejected because they forgot to spec it with xdrive and he got a great deal on it. If he’d gotten a 335is the reliability problems would’ve made his ownership short lived. This 328i has been in the top-3 favorite cars for both of us - and we’ve each owned some incredible cars.

all three in greyscale

Why tho. The e90 and g80 both come in cool colors and the 911 comes in approximately 10,000 colors

I like to blend in. The 911 was the right spec apart from the color. The E90 is platinum bronze with a saddle brown interior and is the only car I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket in. The G26 in Brooklyn grey looks really good with the dark brown interior.

All of the Dino 308 GT4s I’ve been bidding on are two-tone brown.

Yeah, there are definitely a lot of downsides to a car in a flashy color. Even econoboxes attract cops, and any bright colored sports car runs a chance of triggering random normies.

BMW has some beautiful paint colors though

I passed up a 964 America Roadster in teal with color-matched wheels and kind of regret it.

One of my current things is weird leather colors, like emerald green, eggplant, navy blue, etc with a basic silver exterior.
