I know it's too late now, but I think you can contact them and get a new check but I could be wrong. That's happened to me where they sent me a notice because I hadn't deposited the check and to send them a message to have it resent.
I tend to just throw anything away in the mail if it doesn't have a bill or personal letter/card/postcard feel so I throw away important shit all the time.

I found a website that would list random class action law suits you can apply for that I did like 50 or 60 on a Sunday like a year and a half ago and I still get like 1-2 checks or like potty paper and red bulls every other week or so to this day lol.
