open source twitter. Individuals run relatively small servers with userbases typically from 100s-1000s of members. Servers can chose or not chose to federate with other particular servers, meaning both userbases can see each other and interact. Gab used to be on there before the owner got butt mad that his users got bullied for being r-slurred, poast is on there if you've heard of them. kiwi farms has a server. Lots of random shitposting communities have servers. And now we do.
