Yeah I've watched 2 people die of cancer. It's butt.

Also, it's also funny to watch them out themselves as if science is contained in a vacuum, when 90% if the endeavor is geared to reproducibility. That is to say, anyone can just go do it.

Every thirsty PhD student in the field wants to be THE one to cure something, and they'd trip over themselves to beat everyone else.
