People don't really make any money on the stock market they just keep up with inflation... market inflates away and is just the modern version of a savings account.. plus it crashes every 10 years or so. Crashed in 81, 87, 01, 08, and 20. I think it is ridiculous that the average person needs to theoretically own companies in order to break even in the long run.

Man, I can’t think of a single downside to our economy incentivizing you to hoard money like a :marseymerchant: and never spend it or do anything with it. Surely that wouldn’t affect the growth rate of the economy would it?

People make money on the stock market in even the most conservative investment strategies, returns are averaged at like 6% right? And up until this year inflation's been like 2% a year?
