Maybe in undisturbed areas but with of forests having areas cut down for roads or power lines allows the cowbirds to penetrate deeper into the forests since they are r-slurs and don’t like going more than a kilometer or so into the forest for hosts.

Sadly I can’t, it was a birder friend who volunteers as a wildlife monitor that told me about cowbird culling when ever they net one instead tagging and releasing, usually just grab it and snap its neck. Though searching up β€œcowbird culling” does bring up that people do it.
