The Science discovered parents have no effect on their kids at all, like 20 years ago. Moralists couldn't handle it and they buried it. Hilarious stuff. Read old science books. They definitely won't publish another book like this now, but they would in 2000:

Consensus now is that all personality traits are 60% genetics, 40% environment. Environment includes diet, location, basically everything. Parenting is only a fraction of 40%. It's hard to say the percentages exactly because they vary by individual and on a (personality) trait-to-trait basis.

So it's not nothing, but it's definitely not as much as social constructivist leftoids or "spank yer kids or they'll turn gay" rightoids make it out to be.
