EMERGENCY: ALBUM RECOMMENDATIONS REQUIRED

Hey everyone,

I listen to entire music albums on my daily commute but I’m going through a dry spot. Give me recommendations! Doesn’t even have to be a deep cut. Just something you enjoy.

Requirements:

  1. Full albums. EPs acceptable.

  2. On Spotify.

Thanks! Love you! :marseylove:

Marlon Dubois - Absolute Nonsense

I think this guy is affiliated with Sam Hyde somehow but he’s like 19 and this album has some of the craziest music i have ever heard. Not every track is great, but Dolly, Makeoutscene and Blue are songs that sound extremely high budget but were actually recorded in a backyard shed

His album “Tales from the Shed Vol. 2” also has some fantastic songs such as Disguise.

RXK Nephew - Slitherman Activated

If you like extremely over-the-top ignorant lyrics this album is fantastic. Most of his best music is on youtube but this one’s good

Didn't expect to see another Matt Good fan here. Audio of Being has my fave songs but Beautiful Midnight is the strongest overall. Really just love pretty much every single song of his, except for some of the really early pre-Ghetto Astronauts demos. Recently got into Soul Coughing too, all 3 of their albums are great. Check out this live one where he shouts out a bunch of other (as of then unknown) great bands

Everything I listen to in the car is extremely mellow to combat road rage so if you also have the music taste of a sleepy boomer:

  • Let Love Rule - Lenny Kravitz

  • Anymore for Anymore - Ronnie Lane & the Slim Chance

  • Warren Zevon - Warren Zevon

  • Good Old Boys - Randy Newman

even though wave and triste came out of it, wave is probably tom jobim's worst album, most of it is basically a backing track, listen to stoneflower and elis & tom instead. it doesn't have the definitive recordings of the standards i mentioned either

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

To each their own. I'm not one for Jobim's voice or jazz vocalists in general. And yeah, Wave doesn't take a lot of risks but that's sort of the appeal, it's easy-listening light bossa music and some of the best easy-listening light bossa ever recorded.

Stone Flower is excellent.

Is Contra your favorite Vampire Weekend album? Just wondering because while I like it a lot, I don't think I've ever had anyone say it's their #1 before.

Nah I'm with you, Vampire Weekend has that iconic preppy sound and Modern Vampires of the City is the mature, serious album, but Contra feels like a transitionary work

"Diplomat's Son" made me a cute twink tho
