Defending force, war is moving slower than russians expected, russians tried to do their own version of stupid blitzkrieg in first three weeks, by throwing in the youth, expecting that ukrainians will just lay arms and join them.

Now that tactics are changed I believe that death toll is probably equalizing.

However because of first month, month and 1/2 of war russians probably still have few thousand more deaths.

Why would russian officials lie about a bigger death toll on their side.

Ukrainians are the defending side and considering that everything is moving slow by comparison they probably lost few thousands less men than russians.

Komsomolskaya pravda posted that it's nearly 10k in March 20th, later in April, on live tv some Russian official accidently stated that it's more than 10k now.

Even if we only go with data from march 20th, there would surely be more dead by now, so more than 10k.

The context would make it ridiculous for Komsomolskaya pravda to be refuting 12k by saying it's "only" 10k nor does the official MoD release it quotes even exist. Source on the presenter.
