I loved the first two seasons but the third was weak.

Agreed. It started off great (first episode of third season was awesome), then went downhill fast.
TV shows these days don't have an end game. You have to pitch all your good ideas into the first season, or two if you manage to get a multiseason deal right away.
This is why you gotta go with k-dramas. When they're done, they're done and the people move on to make a new one.
