Leaked chats from the preppy white supremacist group Patriot Frontβ€”whose members and leaders were arrested recently in an alleged foiled plot to violently counter a Pride celebration in Couer d’Aleneβ€”revealed a pre-occupation with weight-watching, as well as abstinence from drinking, drugs, and porn. The recent upstate camping retreat also dovetails with another recent trend within the far-right: organic farming. In 2019, white supremacists began cropping up at farmers markets around the U.S.

Of course, obsessions with purity and clean living aren’t just an American white supremacist thing. Nazi Germany was deeply concerned about the longevity of the Aryan race, and so encouraged a healthy lifestyle and good diet. But eating a natural diet was also a core component of the Nazi slogan β€œblood and soil”—intended to foster nationalism by eating food grown on the land.

lol I don't know why they focused on healthy habits like it's a bad thing although it's not like I'm not gonna start abstaining from fun stuff anytime soon :marseystims:

It will be funny to see if the usual process happens that healthy eating and outdoorsmanship become right coded and therefore uncool to do. If organic farming were actually good for the environment this would concern me, but it's pretty dubious that it's net positive with all the extra land it's needing.

I always feel so much better mentally after a few days hiking/camping, Maybe that's why journ*lists are trying to paint it as racist.

Can't have people living happy lives instead of doomscrolling on their phones and consuming media.

Being outdoors also builds self-reliance. If you spend time where a big frick-up or laziness means you'll be wet, cold, hungry, hurt or even dead, you start to build confidence in your ability to take care of yourself. It also breeds a contempt for the people who constantly complain and externalize their problems, which is a problem for the blue check lefities, as they are pretty open about their ideal system being a mass of government-funded unemployed people lockstep voting for AOCs and Bernie's to give them more freebies (and also ban the constitution)

:marseyagree: I like to go to remote locations, no cell signal so you've gotta plan for contingencies.

I've always hated those people guess that makes me a chud these days :chudsey:

"Organic" farming is definitely a shitty grift. When you actually get down to the details, organic farms are basically "farms that don't use modern farming techniques".

Modern != good. If the bees in the region are struggling very hard, or aquifers are too concentrated with nitrates, cutting down on modern methods makes sense. But even then I'd prefer to look at it rationally and instead reducing the harmful chemicals instead going dogmatic and going zero tolerance on some compounds.

I can also see it making sense if your region has water scarcity and you want to grow cotton, for some reason I heard it saves about 90% water for that plant.

There is the issue of organic pest control methods being markedly less effective than convential, so to compensate they actually end up using more pesticides than conventional farms. And the distinction between what makes a pesticide organic vs convential is pretty much just made up by the EPA and isnt particularly rigorous.

Except eschewing modern techniques means you're stuck in the past. The issues you're describing can be solved with new developments, but not for organic farms, which are locked in the past.

I love being outdoors and would actually prefer if they became right coded, just so I had to deal with fewer people on hiking trails.

I'd never expected to live in a world where being against porn, alcohol and eating shitty food was considered "racist". Who gets paid to write this shit and also who pays to buy and read it?
