I mean, I worked for a company that had one of the sales guys just start working at another company and it took like 3 months before anyone noticed. So for that 3 months he was pulling double pay, which was hilarious.

There's an old story from the usenet days (no way I'm going to try to find it again) where an IT guy's department gets reorganized, like they replaced his boss or whatever. Nobody really understands what his position does, which is pretty believable about IT, but he's got enough seniority and is getting paid enough that management imagines it must be important. So he just completely stops doing anything at all and coasts, then finally just doesn't even come into work hardly ever anymore, and if I recall correctly, he did this for 5 - 10 years.
