well, same thing as happened to lots of other big projects (Encyclopedia Dramatica, SASS, etc) that were entirely dependent on me for their continuance. I moved onto other stuff or went to prison and they basically dissolved. GNAA was extremely important, especially when I was involved, but speaking against the juice is much more important, as it is now the core ground of free speech and anti-censorship.

If people want $THING_THEY_LIKE to stick around they need to make sure it gets enough money to be institutionalized longterm and make sure the people that are needed to keep it running in a technical and organizational fashion are financially incentivized to do so.
