Yes, I understand the process. I'm saying the same theory of jury nullification applies: if the people voting on the charges don't want them to stick, no merit to the accusations can force another outcome.
The Republicans had enough votes to nullify the impeachment charges against Trump, and they did. This tells us little to nothing about the merits of the charges, just as if a jury decided to nullify.

Because the Senate does the decision if he did something or not. Because they vote along party lines doesn't mean anything since the impeachment process doesn't care about party lines but simply the Senate.
There is no nullifying of the impeachment accusations since Senate is the ultimate authority in the matter. They themselves decide if there is merit, if they need to look at the merits, and if there is need for evidence.
