It's a lot more complex than that and I don't know how much detail I want to get into. What it boils down to is it's a felony in Georgia to ask an election official to input a number you know is wrong. In the call Trump says he won by 400,000 votes. Well at other times he says 200,000 but whatever, it's a lot of votes.
His legal problem, aka his mens rea, is that he asked the Secretary of State to find 11,700 and some votes. It was one more than the number he needed to win by. Not the 400,000 or whatever number he thought he won by. The exact amount that he needed to win the election. He believes, and says that he believes, that he won by a lot more than that. This is a problem because the law doesn't care whether the number that's changed would change the outcome of the election. Just that you're trying to influence an elected official to put in a number that you know is wrong.
One of the hardest things to prove, in crimes that lack strict liability, is the criminal mindset. How do we know what somebody is thinking? Only if they put it in writing or speech. On the call Trump says that he won by hundreds of thousands of votes. But he asked for the Secretary of State to put in a number that's much less than the number that he believes he won by. TLDR, Trump asked the SoS to put in a number he himself believed was false. That's a felony.
There's also some legal liability around the fact that he even asked. That during the same call made he legal threats of criminal prosecution, while being the technical head of the DOJ. It's improper to say the least and there were other, legal channels he was supposed to go through.
I could go into this little deeper but I'm drinking and I don't really care that much. But yeah, I honestly think that the Georgia case presents the most legal liability for Trump. This is a view backed up by the deep dive I've done, seeing what actual lawyers who are familiar with Georgia laws think.
