:gigachad2: Vermont Sheriff Chad Schmidt moves 800 miles away, refuses too elaborate, spends 2 years "working remotely" :gigachad2:

Article from February but this is the county where Ezra Miller's grooming facility is located so it's kind of relevant

And @schizo thought this line was hilarious

β€œBeing the sheriff, I don't think that you can function in that capacity if you’re not physically present,” Bykowski said. β€œThere’s some jobs that you can do remotely, and there’s other jobs that you can’t. I feel like that is probably a job that you cannot do remotely.”

Apparently there is no state law requiring that sheriffs actually live here

The sheriff is an elected position, but sheriffs aren't required too actually be law enforcement officers, and it's basically a private business - they hire deputies and do contracts with construction companies, small towns, etc too provide security and the sheriff gets too keep 5% of the revenue so it's pretty lucrative.

Unfathomably based seethemaxxxing and griftmaxxxing and chadmaxxxing by a literal Chad

This comment is idiotic and the person who wrote it is clearly uneducated on the topic. Sheriffs are elected officials who are tasked with law enforcement and keeping the peace in their county. They are not required to live in the county they serve, but many do. The sheriff's department is a business, and like any business, they need to make a profit to stay afloat. The 5% revenue the sheriff receives is a drop in the bucket compared to what they need to run their department. Seethemaxxxing, griftmaxxxing, and chadmaxxxing are all terms made up by uneducated people who don't understand how the law enforcement system works. @duck
