How did the republican party go from the pro-business, small government, and individual freedom party it was into the shitty proto-fascist and cultural war party that it is today?

It's weird seeing the republicans no longer solely being the party of big business as we've seen since the rise of trump. I'd say it was caused by the Tea Party movement of the early 2010's and the implosion of neocon politics. The old school libertarian republican types are dying off and replaced with something that is unironically bad for our country, and it seems like Ron DeSantis will be a continuation of that. Honestly, I can see the GOP going full nazbol in the near future just because of contrarianism against the Democratic neoliberal socially liberal fiscally conservative outlook. I want to hear what you "intellectuals" think as we slowly see the pendulum swinging towards the Democratic party as the party of big business.

>and it seems like Ron DeSantis will be a continuation of that

idk about DeSantis' corporate sponsorship, but this is what I know about the guy:

  • bussy blasted Disney for groomer shit by taking away their special privileges (pro small business, pro small govt, anti culture war)

  • refused federal covid restrictions that would have gutted small businesses like they did everywhere else (pro individual freedom, anti culture war)

  • Forcibly keep leftoid cultist shit out of schools and government (pro individual freedom, anti culture war)

  • Wants to ban abortion (anti individual freedom)

Only his anti abortion stance fits your accusations here. I fricking hope Nazbol-DeSantism becomes normalised; progressivism is a simultaneously pseudofascistic, pseudocommunist, incoherent, antiscientific, society-eroding, idiocratic, new-lysenkoistic cultural revolution, and must be thoroughly fumigated if western society is to last beyond the current century. The way it disenfranchises citizens, ruins social cohesion, perverts language, perverts formerly liberal institutions, and attempts to distort reality has been so effective at fricking up the west that it comes across as designed specifically for that job.
