Herpbook posting 2

Today I will be talking about the eastern king snake. This fellow is endemic to most of North America and Mexico. There are several different species but I chose the eastern king snake specifically because it’s the one I see around my property. It eats other snakes including copperheads which makes it beneficial to keep around. It can also live for up to 25 years in captivity!

This snake is the closest thing I have to an arch nemesis. They really love eating my chicks and the first time it happened I grabbed the snake out of the brooder and cut it in half with a machete. Now that I have grown up I do regret this action very much and despite them repeatedly eating my chicks I haven’t resorted to drastic action like that again because I understand it is just what snakes do. Luckily my chicks are now raised by a hen so they’re no longer prey for snakes anymore!

Thank you for reading I plan to make a frog marsey soon.
