For some people the wire gets crossed and they believe that their control over their next frame makes them, in some way, God. And they use that power to attempt to author-insert the Messiah trope, which never goes well. (God does not have your back especially!)
Some of them manage to re-establish themselves but the people who announce that they are Jesus Christ tend to be pretty far gone. I like to help them when I can but my experience in Reddit's underground showed me that the prospects are limited.
