I dont have the reddit app on my phone. When using the mobile nu reddit through my phone's browser I've noticed that sometimes it gives me an irriting and un passable prompt to sign in, but not on all subreddits. It appears to work like this:

Heckin wholesome subreddit - never prompt

Nsfw subreddit - prompt after opening a post

Naughty subreddits - prompt immediately

For instance, r/loveforlandlords prompts immediately as a giga jannie or a bot must have flagged it. The hobby subreddits I go to never prompt.

As reddit doesn't immediately prompt nsfw subreddits I infer that they are trying to bait coomers and porn subreddits will remain after the IPO.
