VSCode and presumably Cursor actually has a kinda built in version control with Timeline (ctrl+shift+p then type timeline to find it). It's per file so a bit manual but it's there.

hm, it looks like this feature branch was never merged to main. I'll delete it here and on the remote, and I'll prune it from the reflog to avoid confusion. While I'm at it, I'll run a compact to free up some disk space
