Weekly Anime Post 101

After last weeks celebrations (and immense disappointment that @August did not keep his promise to post peepee), we are back to regular anime posting. Personally I barely watched anything this week cause I was kinda busy, but Im sure a lot of you neets did nothing but watch anime and masturbate all week long, so let us know about that!

I am done with long fights where the outcome is already know since it's good guys vs bad guys. Case in point I was watching the JJK 0 movie and I straight up fell asleep during the big fight, only to wake up right after, I just can not be arsed to care anymore:marseydead:. I'm dropping the Private Tutor LN for the same reason, the fights just go on and on. If the new Slime volume 16 that comes out next week is full of fights like the previous volume was I'll be very disappointed.

In other news I had some Miso:marseyramen: soup ramen a while back. Now, I don't know if they actually have miso flavored ramen in Japan and I doubt the workers where I ate were even Japanese but I digress. The taste wasn't anything special, there was sea grass in it too which kinda overpowered with a very oceany taste. But, the fried chicken:marseyblack::marseyfriedchicken: it was served with was very good.

Oh, and don't forget to get hyped for the Instant Death anime adaption airing in 4 months.

There's nothing worse than ordering at a Japanese place and then hearing the waitress yell to the chef in Chinese :marseyjewoftheorient:

Tbh the fights being predictable as frick is one of the main reasons I cant be assed to watch shonenshit

same reason i stopped watching seven deadly sins. there is no struggle, they face no adversity, sat through a whole movie of the MC's beating up faceless bad guys who cant even slap back. whats the point of telling a story without a struggle?

Well, I don't have a problem with no struggle. Only fake struggle. And it's mostly only a problem in existential fights with massive stakes, where if the hero loses everyone dies and the earth explodes. I guess it kinda depends on what kinda story it is. And of course Japan has it's own culture, where they have to fight all they way for honor's sake if even if it's for no good reason and and the outcome obvious from the get go.

Horimiya remains comfy AF. No egg time yet though.

Watching toradora, it's not bad. Definitely obvious the way it's setting things up though.

Slow season, so really just Helck and Undead Girl Murder Farce.

Helck kind of sucks so far. If nothing interesting happens again this week I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to watch another episode.

Its kind of fricked by being animated poorly, and you are missing some of his more internal thoughts. But yeah its slow burn right now.

I've been reading a manga called fable, it's very good. I like how the author isn't in your face about how weird the main character is. Like yeah he just walks around his house buck naked it is what it is.

Oh yeah I also watched the two new Yohane episodes I missed on vaycay. Ngl seeing Aqours hold hands at the beach made me cry. Also I kinda wish that the new festival song was a bit more mijuku dreamer-esque but props to the writers for getting the first full Aqours song to take place during the summer festival bc that's when they did it in Sunshine and I totally forgot about that.

Also can you imagine being someone who wasn't already an Aqours enthusiast watching this show? It wouldn't be as bad as watching Sunshine without SIP but i feel like it would make you a little schizo. I mean the MaruKanonYou and Guilty Kiss subunits would seem to come from absolutely no where, the camera weirdly lingering on Riko hugging Shitake like it has some significance, Kanon's frogs, and the weird walrus dude at the fair would all be a bit weird if you had no beforehand info.

The girls constantly being grouped up by year and wearing the color associated with the years would drive me up the wall specifically because the match up would be so fricking random and it keeps being pushed. I need to know how people feel.

I don't think it would be very good if you weren't already a huge Aqours fan going in or at least predisposed to idolstragging. It doesn't have cohesive world building or an engaging plot. It's basically just cgdct fan service for old fans. Also you would probably be wondering why they keep singing all the time lol. I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the most dropped shows this season, especially since it made its way onto a lot of "things to look out for this season" lists and kind of advertised itself like a standard isekai.

True, considering idolstrags thought I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the highest grossing anime this year. Niji season two sold a frick ton of blue rays last year, third highest in fact.

You're right about world building and plot tho it really has neither of those things.

Darn, you're really mad over this, but thanks for the effort you put into typing that all out! Sadly I won't read it all.

finished I Wanna Be An Angel! it did pick up towards the end with a really good last few episodes, a guy who was a side character slowly goes batshit over the series and then becomes the main villian at the end. though the ending was good on paper, the way it played out on screen wasn't dramatic enough, and it suddenly goes from serious to silly in the middle of THE BIG THING it was leading up to. i'm gonna watch voogies angel next, more obari.

I finished s3 of Dr. Stone (or at least what we got from it so far). It was entertaining, the fact that it's split really hurts the experience since it feels like 5 min. Interestingly it felt distinctly different to s1 and 2, which both had similar feel to each other. It's hard for me to put my finger on why it's different. People say it's less detailed when it comes to science, it may be that, hard for me to say. Maybe it's because we are dealing with the unknown more.

I also started watching assassination classroom for the first time. After 3 episodes it looks promising, but I'm not yet sold. Main character loves monologuing as the narrator, „we are assassins, and our target… is our teacher.”. So dramatic…

s3 of Dr. Stone

IMO, the problem is that they are not serious enough considering how dire their situation is. Senku is acting like he knows he has a plot armor.

as usual, one piece twitter makes me embarrassed to be a fricking fan. i hate toei and online one piece fans so much. only they could pull of slowing down the fricking kaido face punch to a fricking snail's pace and have it applauded as an incredibly hype action scene. just make it fast and impactful. i also hate how much they over-stylize it. reminds me of zoomer short-form content, except they manage to make it drag-on without fail. constant flashing lights, auras, layered music. stim fricking city. just give me a fricking raw normal-paced fight please.

trying to read bleach so i can watch thousand year blood war bc that seems cool. around 60 chapters in. i hope it gets good soon.

We need to normalize hating One Piece again. It spread like a social contagion during COVID, and it's about time that, like COVID, everyone stops talking about it.

I get that people like the show but pretending it's some sort of masterpiece and not cheap schlock is just silly.

Out of the big 3, it's the only one still going and it shows. FMA ended 13 years ago, and Naruto is 6 years since it finished (no I don't count Boruto). Only one piece struggles on.
