Legitimately the best action scene in Evangelion.

Ends with character's defense being pierced by the "lance of Longinus" and running out of power for her piloted biomechanical giant (EVA), after which the enemies she was previously engaging in a brutal 9v1 brawl swarm over her and rip the EVA to pieces, entrails and all.

Evangelion features very surface-level Christian symbolism. One instance of this is the spear up there, the Spear of Longinus, which is traditionally the name given to the spear that pierced Christ's side.
