I just finished watching Legendary Gambler Tetsuya. It's about mahjong, it is as good as Akagi.

Is it as good as Kaijem?, is it interesting to watch even doe I know jack shit about Mahjong?, Kaiji was awesome because it had unique gambles specifically made for the anime, not chinkslop board game nobody outside of Japan and Chinese diaspora cares about

I didn't watch Kaijem, I am not an anime fan, just watched Akagi and Gambler Tetsuya because it's about mahjong. The anime is less about the mechanics of the mahjong and more about cheating techniques. The MC receives mentorship from a cheat master and faces opponents with increasingly complex techniques so he has to figure out how they are cheating and how to out-cheat they. It has less tension then Akagi, but the pacing is way better. They even did a videogame trilogy on PS2, it's kinda cool.

Can any of you !asians please make an effortpost written in the Autismo language teaching us Westoid dramanauts how to play Mahjong?, I watched multiple videos of it on YouTube but my 4 IQ still can't understand how to play it :marseyretardchad:, also I realize that Japanse M-ACK!jong plays quite differently from its Chinese counterpart, and the Mahjohnson featured in anime and Japanese vidya is arguably its own separate board game.

There is also a popular game on Steam called Mahjong Soul, which mixes !Gacha waifuslop dating simulators with Muhdikjon :autism:

Riichi Mahjong is kinda like a mix of poker and buraco (or gin rummy, for Americans). You play against 3 other players, each one of they receive 13 tiles at the beginning of the round, in each turn they draw one tile from the wall and discard one tile of their hand. The objetive of the game is to make 4 sets and a pair. To make a set you either make a sequence of the same suit (1-2-3, 2-3-4, 3-4-5, 5-6-7, 7-8-9) or a three of a kind. If you have two tiles of the equal tiles in your hand and one of the player drop the third tile you can "open" your hand by saying "Pon" and take the discarded tile. If you have an incomplete sequence, like 2-3, and the opponent to your left drops a 1 or a 4, you can "open" your hand saying "Chi" and taking the discarded tile. In addition to needing 4 sets and 1 pair (in most cases), your hand also needs to have a yaku in order to score, a hand can have multiple yaku, and the harder it's to achive it, the more valuable it is. If a player discards the tile that you need to finish a hand, you say "Ron" and take the points directly from him, if you draw the winning tile, you say "Tsumo" and take the points from everyone (if your hand is worth 9000, you take 3000 points from each player). There is some stuff that I didn't say, but it is better to see how it works in a video.

It's rummy. You just draw and discard to make patterns in your hand. It's just that everyone and their aunt has a different sets of patterns so the game seems more complicated than it is.

It's like forming poker hands but with many patterns

Something like rummy I guess
