Dramanauts rejoice. The big bad Marvelino is going down and now only making <1 billion USD earnings movies at the box office. The period of peak soy is over. Now they can only keep the number of movies and shows at current levels or start to cut them down to more acceptable levels.
Is this a case of go woke get broke or is this a case of writing getting worse or the audience getting tired of the exact same repeated formula on the big screen? Personally I think it is because they have not been able to get people as charismatic as the original cast to replace them, along with the fact that in half of the new movies the CGI is starting to look really rough at places. In Multiverse of Madness there were bits where I was 100% sure the effects were added in by Indian TV show teams. They had the same shitty look.

I don't think this is a woke thing, the old power fantasy movies didn't have much of this either, you don't really see Arnie or John Wayne just beating the shit out of women either outside of the occasional slap or weird spanking scene. Meanwhile the new Mad Max had all four women protagonists get their asses kicked by the male protagonist, and one of the Mahvel movies with the big purple dude had some bizarrely torture porn-esque scenes with some of the female characters. Heck a lot of famously woke games like The Last of Us have women getting offed left and right.

One of the problems with Hollywood nowadays is there's good CG and budget CG and a lot of movies employ the latter, because they know their audience is braindead and won't care. Even when they hire the good CG company, they force impossible timeframes on them making the end result laughable. And you still need filmmakers who know how to integrate CG properly into the films and not just throw it in like Americans with ketchup on food.
Sadly, not everything can be practical though. I've heard from movie folx who are on the side of pracitcal say "yeah, it's still wayyy easier and cheaper to do a lot of this with computers". It boils down to Hollywood not caring because audiences don't care.

Personally I think it's because of powercreep. Everytime you have a new bad guy, he needs to be more powerful than the previous one. You need to make your main characters go trough a "power-up" arc and then bring a new, more powerful enemy. At one point this get's extremely boring not just because of the repetitiveness, but also because the bad guys are less and less unique & original. After Thanos every new "bad guy" has no impact and just feels like they were designed to be "thanos but more powerful".
Dragon Ball is the only show that's allowed to have constant powercreep because they pretty much invented it and pushed it to the extreme to the point where it became the core identity of the show. On the flipside you have One Punch Man which is essentially a parody of this concept.
Good example in western cartoon is Avatar, where the original series just had an evil king who shoots fire out of his hands. After 4 seasons, the Korra sequels ended up with a giant mecha robot that shoots fricking laser beams.

It is extra worse for the movies since every marvel movie is a massive expensive blockbuster so the pacing is fricked. With comics done in (usually) 22 page issues which means you can easily have slower paced, lower stakes issues focused on dialog world building characters smaller threats ect. (this can have its own problems with dragged out pooping writing but that's another issue). Whereas the MCU every movie is both a massive super expensive stand alone blockbuster but also a build up to a super expensive blockbuster which means there can never be any down time only varying degrees of big world ending action.

nice. It worked for Spiderman though. He fought thanos but as an individual superhero he was still young so even fighting a smaller villain on his own provides growth. I think that's the real secret that phase 4 should have gone for. Smaller Villains but they develop the mindset or abilities of the hero in specific ways due to personal experience of the event. The Villain is important to the specific hero. Like for Thor they could have had a story of Thor having to fight on Earth to have a settlement for Asgard. Smaller scale but still good action in that. Or have him take Asgard off world and into the stars to find a new home, and the journey develops him into a leader like role finally. For Dr. Strange they could have gone the What If route where he has some terrible events occur that he simply cannot reverse and he has to come to peace with having the powers of a god but still having to accept the personal tragedies that occur to him.

For the last 2 spiderman movies, one included the fact that every single superhero wasn't available and the other one included multiple dimensions. These were relatively good stories but it's clear that they already have to write the story in a way that accounts for their own powercreep. At one point you will run out of good ideas. After getting every single previous spiderman actor from different dimensions they most likely peaked, and I predict future spiderman movies will go only downhill from now on. Just my 2 cents.
