A question for Gundam chads

I’m still getting into Gundam, but so far I’ve sat through all of The Origin, The movie versions of the original, 8th MS Team, and the first season of Gundam 00.

While I get that it’s kind of the point of the series, so far I’ve noticed the Gundams are always completely overpowered relative to the antagonist’s mobile suits. Even at the end of the series when things start to equalize, the protagonists still pull out some new tech or power or whatnot to give them an edge. They seem overly dependent on technology to me, and that feels like a writing mistake. Are there Gundam shows where the good and bad mechs are fairly equalized, and its piloting skill that really makes the difference? Something with no last second powerups or sudden new weapons?

The last fight between Amuro and Char was alright, but the latter’s legless Zeong was hard to take seriously. 8th MS Team wasn’t too bad about this, but it also lacked one on one duels. 00 was almost what I wanted towards the end of season 1, but they still pulled out too many last second abilities.

They're all pretty much like that. Especially against mooks.

00 closes the gap by giving all of the enemies GN Tau drives which are worse than standard GN Drives, but it does force them into hit and run tactics.

G Gundam is mostly 1v1 fights between Gundams. Though it's a super robot series not a real robot series. Also if you watch it only do the dub.

Good to know. I do like the military fiction of most Gundam series, but I’ll give G a try.

I appreciated how the “bad guys” of 00 got better and better at fighting the Gundams over the course of the season. I guess it’ll have to do for my itch.

Are there other mech series with action like what I’m looking for?
