Total shitshow in Korea: alcoholism, cyberbullying, suicide, and eebeejeebeephilia

https://www.soompi.com/article/1733016wpp/kim-sae-rons-family-holds-press-conference-reveals-kim-sae-rons-messages-with-kim-soo-hyun

This is the big celebrity scandal of the moment. It's hard to follow because of course everyone involved is named Kim and the guy is such a generic effeminate flower boy, but I think it goes something like this:

  • A few years ago a rising star actress in her early 20s, let's just call her Kim for short, is drunk driving and crashes, knocking out power to lots of homes.

  • She gets fired and written out of the shows she's on.

  • This is of course not enough for the Korean internet. They have to constantly talk about what a horrible person she is. It doesn't help that she's so based she has a big drunken birthday party a couple months later.

  • She goes broke from paying compensation for the damage she did and because, this being Korea, her management company ripped off most of what she'd made.

  • This February she ropes and in traditional Korean fashion everyone who had hounded her into suicide is suddenly in mourning.

  • Plot twist: It turns out some much older celebrity had been banging her since she was 15. Now the internet wants him dead.

Now we're at the phase where everyone is blaming everyone with accusations being thrown around like her parents were pimping her out. Which seems pretty likely because how does your 15-year old daughter get r*ped by this guy on a regular basis and you don't notice?

So anyway, it's your typical Korean gossip story.

Apparently the Thanos guy in Squid Game was completely locked out of the music and entertainment business for years for :marseynotes: smoking a joint... :marseywtf2:

Park Bom got cancelled for about a decade for taking the Adderall her American doctor prescribed for her. I guess Koreans really should be afraid of how fast their society would collapse if they (especially students) got their hands on stimmies.

Come to think of it, we've never really seen widespread stimulant abuse in a place like China/Korea/Japan thanks to how draconian their drug laws are. Relatively collectivist societies all strung out on amphetamines would be scary as frick, imagine how much they'd be able to get done towards a single common goal.

It's because there was a huge crisis in Japan. At the end of the war the military stockpiles got looted and it turned into Portland -level tweaker country for a few years. The draconian laws were put in place to end that.

So the difference isn't that they have less demand, it's that they can actually crack down and solve the problem.

Seeing how much better it is over there not having to deal with a bunch of druggies on the streets I'm finding it hard to actually consider those laws draconian

They came to mind but all that energy was going towards the war effort. Not to be a CCP shill but imagine if China got over their hangups from the whole opium thing and started liberally stimming up their population. They'd end up rich enough to just own 3/4 of the world. :marseyjewoftheorient:

Why are people even mad at her? It's kinda funny to booze cruise so hard you cause a power outage, doesn't sound like anybody got hurt? And then she got drunk on her birthday, wtf is wrong with that?

No surprise she got weinstein'd tho, I'd be more surprised to see a korean celebrity that wasn't

If she had knocked out the power in.a drunken jetpack accident that would be funny but with a car it's just dangerous and annoying.

It's even worse when privacy laws are involved.

Mr. Kim is accused of attempting to rob Mr. Kim (no relation) but Mr. Kim (no relation) stopped him...

Considering the DUI and the party afterwards, she was a danger to society and the rope seems like the only smart decision she had made in her life. :marseypeace:

Korea is like everything shitty about Japan, but with a dose of American right-wing Christianity thrown into the pot.

They're slightly less sexually depraved than the Japs tho, I will give them that.....

I remember that Netflix show. She was a major character and mid season she just disappeared. They never even mention it just replace her with a different foid character lol.

I've never seen her but I remember the Spy Myung Wol scandal. Main character was a Korean-American. She got so fed up with the producers' bullshit and hostile environment that one night half way through the show she just says frick it and flies back to LA.

Iirc they eventually coaxed her back but for a few episodes the writers were just desperately trying to waste time. It wouldn't have been such a problem except that (at least in those days) they would write and shoot each episode less than a week in advance.

Why can't Korea be like Japan and just jerk off to comics instead of raping children

This is such a sad story. She was a child actress as well, so she was fricked from the beginning. Also the guy was such an butthole. Not only did the ex not go to her funeral, he posted pictures of his birthday the same day, and he owned the management company she worked for which was sueing her for money they paid her. She was trying to work part time jobs to pay off the debt and she wasn't even able to do that.

Hey everyone! My name is Juan-Elias Riesco, my mom and I own Nini's Deli together, and before I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I used to be a homosexual.

I still remember the day as if it was yesterday when my older brother Jose shared the Good News of Jesus with me and told me that I was on a path of destruction without Christ. I thank God that he did not sugar coat it, because it was his forthrightness that struck a cord heart. After that moment I was immediately convicted for my sins, and just a few months later I went to church and cried out for Jesus' mercy over my life!

Now, I am married to the woman of my dreams and we have two precious children together (and Lord willing many more). It is because of this that I as a business owner now have such a big heart for my #LGBTQ friends. If Christ could change me, surely He can change anyone!
