Here is Steve aka a bard named Finn writing longposts about how one dude he was LARPing with allegedly said he would break steve's arm, resulting in Steve fearing for his safety and then threatening legal action against the LARP group, so the LARP group had to send him a registered letter that he was being ridiculous and to stop crying wolf. Steve continues to essaypost in his signature legalistic style of writing to try to make his case but no one in the group is falling for it. The whole thread is hilarious, and full of smug bardfinn clapbacks:

BONUS: Steve's old profile page - I'm a 32 year old atheist. I was diagnosed in 2002 with Asperger's Syndrome, and have grown up adjusted to it. I spend a lot of time listening to music on an mp3 player, or making music with my drum, or playing Guitar Hero in order to improve my left hand co-ordination, speed, and strength in preparation for trying to learn to fiddle. I haven't actively practiced Irish Trad music for over a year because of the circumstances of my life - I have found a wonderful snuggly woman who has me all to herself. You should have mentioned in the OP that Bardfinn was a reeve (LARP janny/referee) and the reason that players began to dislike him was due to his excessive moderation of others' LARP weapons, which caused the LARPer who's weapons he was examining to IRL chudpost at him, and later in the thread he is reminded that Reeves only have authority over enforcing the rules of the game, not the entire event, but he claimed that he actually did have authority that extended beyond just enforcing the rules of LARPing. Apparently another player, Falamar, was given a warning for calling Finn a crybaby, even though Finn was not given a warning for his statement that "you can't read and comprehend plain English, and cannot grasp at your strawmen". Bardfinn's sensitivity is shown further when he had no problem with telling a player to climb a tree, but seethed at being told to play NERO instead (NERO is another LARP ruleset). Apparently there's also a "Calling Out Finn" Thread, but I can't find it because of the forum's outdated indexing !forumposters here it is: https://www.amtgard-eh.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=520, made by the same Sir Corbin of the thread you linked

It seems there are many different kinds of bullies. Some in the schoolyard and some on the internet.

The internet affords those who would not normally act out in real life the opportunity to do it in relative safety behind distance and anonymity.

I give Finn credit for disposing of the first level of internet cowardice--anonymity. I have a memory of your face, Finn. So I know who you are.

What the internet bully is not protected from is intellectual retaliation. The distance that the internet may afford you will protect you from personal space issues, but not from the words you are trying to squealch by running to the admin everytime someone tells you to stuff it.

Finn thinks he can intimidate with latin words and tattling to the admin. So I call him on his BS. Finn you said the following:

I did not say that you assaulted me. I said that IF we took as a premise YOUR proposition that Reeves have no authority outside of formal battlegames, such as on the road at Tanglewood - and extrapolated from that - that the inevitable conclusion OF YOUR PREMISE would be that on the road at Tanglewood is outside of the game of Amtgard, and thus hitting me with an amtgard-legal weapon while on the road legally constitutes assault. I extrapolated this in order to illustrate why YOU did NOT want to argue that reeves do not have a responsibility to the safety of participants while they are at an Amtgard event. I am sorry - I made that as plain as possible, and I am sorry that you misread my words.

I am not responsible for teaching you manners. I invested a large amount of time learning them, they and my time are of value to me. It is apparent to me where you were uncivil - you recommended that I stick to NERO and tabletop RPG, or words to that effect. You also said "sack up, man - this is the internet", in defense of the uncivil actions of others. Civility means that if you cannot contribute materially to the discussion, you not disparage those in the discussion.

I am sorry that you are unable to follow the argument that I have outlined in these forums, and I am sorry that your only response to date is to celebrate bringing me indignity and ridicule.

Note the similarity between "hitting me with an amtgard-legal weapon while on the road legally constitutes assault" and "this statement legally constitutes assault" (I'm not sure of the exact wording, but he said this in response to "keep yourself safe" on one of the original /r/drama posts about him)

Later in the thread, on page 2, someone finally references the corpora (Amtgard rulebook) and proves that Reeves do not have authority over out-of-game matters.

Unfortunately, he is a "rulebook contributor" despite other players disliking his reeving style. He does not seem to have just added that to his page, the wiki's Rulebook Credits page also lists him as a contributor.

Hidden in the edit history of "Finn" (which redirects to Finn McGill now) is https://wiki.amtgard.com/index.php?title=Finn&oldid=94737, which appears to be written by him, but was removed by another editor due to "political posturing, which does not belong in the wiki". The old page only has 3 sentences about Finn (the first and last sentences, as well as a statement about why Finn left the Amtgard LARP community), the rest is about Brendon.

Finn has been a roving gypsy, a guest bard to the Seelie Court, Guildmaster of Bards more times than he cares to remember, Prime Minister of Ironcloud, and most recently Baron of Ironcloud, though it was not him that was elected, it was really his son, Rowan. Everyone remembers Rowan, but Rowan doesn't exist anymore:

Finn had once retired to a tiny cottage southeast of Mourningwood Glen, along with his fey wife. Finn's not-yet-conceived son by this wife, named Rowan, had travelled backwards in time to prevent some catastrophe that would have caused his mother and father's death. This also caused Finn to learn of his company training for World Banner Wars III, so Finn came out of retirement; Rowan, as a result, was never conceived. Finn's fey wife returned to her sea home, and Finn found himself as Baron of Ironcloud one day as the timelines settled themselves.

Finn also happens to have a personal timeline that is like swiss cheese. Stuff like this happens to him far too often, and seems to have begun with his

travels to Faerie.

Finn is a titled Lord in Ironcloud, though his manorhouse and estates have disappeared - part of Ironcloud's strange geography.

Finn is also a Master Bard in the Emerald Hills. His chosen instrument is the Bodhran. His chosen mode is the written word, in all of its' forms. He is a master of letters and of the common tongue, and knows a smattering of Germanic, Latin, Quenya, and Elisabethan. He is also a trained heraldic blazoner and possesses a decrying voice that can be turned, as they say, "up to 11".

The last 2 sentences are very foreshadowing.

He is also mentioned on the Amtgard guild Crawling Chaos, which he was formerly a member of, but does not have a page dedicated to him.

He has 6 levels in bard, but is also a master bard and was a guild master, and is no longer reeve qualified, although he has 1 level in the reeve class. Apparently, Falamar (one of the players who criticized him earlier) gave him the Order of the Rose award in 2013, which seems very prestigious.

!commenters !bardfinn I found this in the Amtgard rulebook and remembered this comment (for context, Finn has a level 5 Order of the Rose according to his character sheet, gained his first one in 1980, and his 5th one in 2013, although there is a lot of missing information in the database. The 4th and 5th Order of the Rose awards were given by Falamar, the player who got warned for calling him a crybaby. Also, Monarchs are basically game masters, but the rules of the game have a lot of fourth-wall breaking, such as reeve being both a class which has levels on your character sheet and a referee-like role)

Ladder Awards: Ladder Awards start out at zero and progress to tenth level. Attaining the next rung on the ladder should require a demonstrable level of ability beyond that required for the previous rung. This does not necessarily require bettering a player's previous work so long as the work itself is sufficient to achieve the next rung. All levels must be earned consecutively. Monarchs have the discretion to award multiple levels of award to the same individual but all awards must be given in sequence. Note: The examples given in each category are meant as only guidelines as to what might be the appropriate level of service for those levels.

1. Rose: Awarded for service to the club not necessarily related to an elected office. A first level Order of the Rose indicates a very minor service to the club such as picking up trash, while a tenth level Order of the Rose could be comparable to providing consistent, long-term service to the club.

I provided sources for every claim I made, although the original subject of the post (whether Bardfinn was unfairly hit with boffer weapons while outside of the game, or not) is unproven, it is stated in the rules themselves that Bardfinn had no jurisdiction over events that took place outside of actual LARP battles, regardless if hitting someone with a LARP weapon "legally constitutes assault", and I never affirmed or denied that Bardfinn may have been surprise-attacked by other LARPers.

I didn't either since they all have different rules, Amtgard in particular seems to massively overuse 4th-wall breaking, since reeve takes up a class slot and the in-world monarchs of various kingdoms have the ability to vote to change the rules (not in-game laws, but the mechanics of how combat works and what weapons are considered unsafe IRL)

I'm a 32 year old atheist. I was diagnosed in 2002 with Asperger's Syndrome, and have grown up adjusted to it. I spend a lot of time listening to music on an mp3 player, or making music with my drum, or playing Guitar Hero in order to improve my left hand co-ordination, speed, and strength in preparation for trying to learn to fiddle. I haven't actively practiced Irish Trad music for over a year because of the circumstances of my life - I have found a wonderful snuggly woman who has me all to herself. She has a three-year-old son.:
