Amusingly (not!) when I was twenty four I was like "I wonder what I would look like as a girl" and the overwhelming response I got from anyone who was interested in voicing an opinion was "no absolutely not you are not trans", from cis and trans people alike.

Mostly because I was too happy.

Personally I did have the "are you sure you're not trans" conversations but my feelings about it were too messy and Problematic to unpack without someone dragging it out of me-or as it turned out, writing it as internal narrative in an egg cracking scene, 💜@purplecatgirl.com for that!

This is why I go fricking spare over the aesthetic of dysphoria as a sacrament or about gatekeeping our communities and identity. I can make reasoned or objective arguments about it, but fundamentally it's because every trans person I knew was like "no you have too much joy in your life and body".

I think it was just the prevailing definition of trans identity at the time in a way that it has shifted away from being (though not all the way). People who had suffered deeply making that suffering the core of their identity, excluding me.

Also a girlfriend jealous of how pretty I'd be? lol.
