It is absolutely a bad idea.

Reddit's automoderator has a feature that counts reports on an item (post or comment), and can be instructed to then take an action on the item. A lot of moderators wrote rules to have automod remove the reported item. Trolls figured that out immediately.

fully automating concrete moderation actions based on things people do to the target account (blocks, reports, etc.) seems like a bad idea

These were subreddits with small mod teams who thought they were protecting their communities. They found out they were handing control of their subreddit to anyone with $15 to spend on bots
