I am pretty nationalist but I won't be very surprised if Arjun or Tejas are trash. I have zero trust in DRDO or any other government agencies.

That being said, I don't mind if they are trash as they are the first and will help a lot in developing sovereign technology.

I just wish we Indian would have a realistic expectations around these projects.

Tejas isn't trashed by aviation enthusiasts as much as Arjun is by enthusiasts from what I've seen. Almost everyone seems to agree that it's a major upgrade over the flying coffin migs(which is what Tejas is supposed to replace) that we operate.

That's true. I personally feel that making a tank would be easier than making a fighter jet.

That being said, I was listening to an Indian expert and he pointed out that comparing a single weapon to another weapon is dumb. We should always judge these weapon on how they fit in the entire system. So who knows how army is planning to use these tanks.

Seems like Arjun has better targeting and speed at expense of protection and being heavier. I think army plans to use them in defensive role which seems like a decent use case, they'd be much less exposed to infantry anti tank and won't have to bother about shitty paki infra(like Russians are using their t 72s right now). Frees up T90s for offensives.

I think an Arjun Tank could keep up or even beat a T-90 I mean T-90 is a Russian tank ya know.
