Office Colleague Body Shaming? : india :soycrychicken:

After that, things have been weird. Our departments don't really interact much but we require admin assistance at times. Most of the times she doesn't reply/reaches back so late that I get the work done from someone else from the admin team.

Whenever she does come to our work area, it's clear that she has her favourites. I'm still polite to smile and greet her. Yet she has made comments such as "You're getting fat" thrice to me in front of everyone.

:marseychadfoid:

This really has affected me as I've been someone who's been super thin my whole life and the last one year, my health hasn't been the best. She's not my friend who's saying it in banter or for motivation. She's almost double my age.

:gigachadqueen:

Humor typically works good, especially self deprecating humor. I live to eat not eat to live. I'm still getting to my before phase before I start my diet. Running makes my heart beat fast and my girlfriend gets jealous. My favorite is My girlfriend bakes delicious cookies after I eat her vegetable. If she's smart enough, then she'll never bother you after the last line.

:vomit:

All of those are terrible and last one is the worst.

Just start looking for other jobs and the next time she passes this remark, reply that "right back at ya, to us fatties who are growing larger every day, how much did you gain since last time? 2 kgs?"

:marseyconfused:

What does that even mean? :derpwhy:

Really? Are you suggesting someone to change their job just because some butthole colleague.

Yeah frick that lol My Aussie colleagues hit me with so many racist comments I just cop it on the chin and push back with a quick lash. Shuts them up real fast and we just laugh it off 😂

:platyaboriginalpat:

If you don't feel comfortable talking to her directly, report to HR or something. This is absolutely unacceptable in a work environment. I don't get these responses about self deprecating humor. Nothing about this situation is funny and there is no need to normalize it.

:marseycringe:

If she says it again, tell her "I didn't expect such unprofessional behavior from a senior employee like you. Please understand that people can have various health reasons regarding their weight gain and to point out anyone's weight in a professional office setting is very immature. Please stop doing this. My weight is my concern and I will manage it. Thanks"
