Singhs are Hindus too. Its derived from singha, lion, it was a warrior caste surname for a long period before a Sikh guru mandated it for all Sikhs but there's still different surnames so ig it was loosely practiced.
They have some unique doctrines but all built up on a Hindu structure, its kind of like Islam's relation to Christianity/Judaism. I haven't really studied their texts in detail but from what I know it was a sort of monotheistic spinoff with some historical developments that defined it(like the Turks killing a Guru and his children so they became militant).

Wikipedia taught me that he must be a Sihk because his last name is Singh which means Lion and that he has long nasty hair and a knife.
