This sentiment of "I'm dead if I fail this exam" isn't unknown in the West though. That said to single out a specific parent and repeatedly state such to the point others take note of it and send it to any kind of CPS isn't and that's almost certainly why they were called.

Thankfully none of my NRI relatives are like this. Can you imagine your most formative experiences of the country being beaten by your parents everytime you went to lol?
I might have uncovered the key reason so many second gens are the worst sorts of traitors.
Like I'm not opposed to beating in all cases but some lundian parents use the threat way too liberally, they terrify their kids so hard they remain obedient automatons into their middle ages.
