If he hadn't been hogging the overtaking lane and leaving all that empty space in front of him maybe those cars would've beaten the light.
"Safe speed" he says, how about you go that speed in the left lane?
This shit happens in Hyderabad way too much and it drives me up the wall. 60-80 feet roads and r-slurs are still hogging the right lane.

I thought Kolkata traffic was bad to drive in, I'm thankful I didn't have to learn driving in Hyd lol. You guys have literally no stoplights, just cars randomly crossing right into five lanes of oncoming traffic to take a side road all over the place. And uninterrupted traffic that too. Must suck to be a poor in the more developed parts, crossing the roads seems impossible. But mostly I'm still in awe at how my driver repeatedly made that turn, I'd have been stuck unable to move forward for ages. They just slide right in, comfortable trusting a random stranger with braking right so they don't die.

They have practically removed all traffic lights and made them u turns. So if you have to take right at a big junction you have to take left, cross 4-5lanes in heavy traffic within like 200m. It a complete cluster frick with people going from left to right and straight going traffic going fro right to left

Inner city traffic is a nightmare. I don't go there anymore because most of the family moved out to more spacious, developed areas as the city grew.
Pedestrians are pretty much left to the whims of traffic flow. There are some overhead paths and tunnels for them, but nowhere near enough.

They're mostly around Gachibowli and Shaikpet. A couple of them moved to villas near Gandipet. One cousin got fed up with city life and moved to a farmhouse on Chevella road.
As long as it's easily accessible to ORR, they're moving there.

We have two farm houses near shankarpalli its a completely remote location, I am not there is because partner has to travel to office and the internet is spotty as frick with that BSNL dish connection and its like far away from ORR. I need to find a good area near ORR. but then my mom will freak out if I tell her because we have too many properties already

Lol I planned to take a taxi from Charminar area cause parents are old and I didn't know whether metro had escalators but when I checked on that day literally every road around me was red, never seen anything like that. Took an auto to a nearby metro station and kept seeing gridlocked street after gridlocked street from above. The people we had a dinner appointment with were stuck in that jam, arrived an hour late. It sucks that Kolkata has no jobs but there's some mercies to that. Other than Delhi and Kolkata no major Indian city has proper road infra for current car load. Traveled 16 km over 90 minutes going into that area was
. And we mostly took flyovers too, just the 4 or 5 kms we were at surface level was that bad.

Oh yeah, Charminar is like old old city. I'm not sure they even do major infra work there beyond maintenance because it'll disrupt everything.
Delivery guys are making a decent buck now because if you get into traffic in a car, you're fricked for an hour. 2 wheelers will get the job done in 15 mins.

Are trucks allowed in the fast lane in India? Here they have to stay on the left and only use the middle for overtaking, they aren't allowed in the 3rd lane at all.

On 4+ lane highways they are usually relegated to the last two lanes but on 2lane highways they always sit in the fast lane going 50% speed limit
