we used to have a great maid and we paid her like 10K for 1-1.5hrs of work daily. She had an abusive husband and my mom made sure she was safe all the time, some time later they had to move and she stopped coming. Whenever I try to hire a new maid, she needs to be approved by my mom and after the standards the last one set, she keeps refusing everyone after like a week. We gave up and started doing our own cleaning

Pretty much, my uncle in Delhi pays 8k/month for a maid who works 4 hours, she's like a class apart from ones we had at home. Earns 25k a month with 3 such jobs so with her husband they're basically a middle class household. I think this is ideal state of the whole thing, more of us become upper middle class so 8k for 4 hours work doesn't make our eyes pop and they get to live with dignity.
