Nobody is commenting that the guy himself is a nepo hire. I looked at his profile and it said

He attended Karlsruhe Institute of Technology for a year (2005 - 2006) before joining the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, Erlangen, for his doctoral research in Nonlinear Optics. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 2012.

He is pretentious as frick. He somehow had to drag in Max Planck Institute because his actual university is not that well known. If I was on his hiring committee I would have asked why couldnt he finish his degree there and instead had to switch to another university.

Has disappointingly mainstream politics on it.

Oh, how unfortunate. A tenured professor is a normie and doesn't have quirky politics of a dramatard .
