A commutation to life in prison is hardly an acquittal, lol. It's probably worse for them. I'm a big advocate of the death penalty, but that's just because of how much money is saved over keeping them alive. As far as punishments go, I'd much rather be killed than spend the rest of my life in prison.

It's only even-ish because r-slurred bleeding hearts make it take so long. The defendent's right to a speedy trial should apply to the appeals process, as well.
A system focused on ticketing/spanking/killing criminals would be extremely cost effective and efficient. We shouldn't be imprisoning anyone for more than a couple of years.
