Free bus rides are minimal in a recent state election bjp has promised 5k INR(70USD) every month to every woman. Unskilled full time labour makes ~10kish in most areas, 6-7k region in poor ones. My state's bordering on insolvency and it pays all women 1k INR every month. There were three beauty parlours in my father's village last time I visited, they outnumber liquor stores now lol.

Do you think they realize that all these handouts really polarize everybody not getting handouts (moids) into disliking women/minorities even more, and they just don't care and want their gibs? Or are they naive enough to think that these kinds of policies don't get the majority to turn against the beneficiaries/thieves?

Most of our electorate doesn't really understand where govt spending comes from and even if they did, they'd realise like 5% are funding 95% of it so why not exploit them
Like 2% of country pays income tax and most indirect taxes are realized from goods only that proportion really buy, very progressive taxation system that ensures zero electoral effect no matter how high you crank taxes. Only real downside is consumption falling but that's for next guy to sort out you need to win this election
