There was a coverup, they nooticed a little, they were prosecuted if they nooticed too hard. Now some of the trial statements have come out, putting in stark, legal language both the atrocities committed and the various heinous ways it was ignored, dismissed, victim-blaming and actively covered up. And they can't even arrest a couple of low-level nooticers or just blame it all on racists again.
Or at least you can't if you're in politics; redditors were quite happy to take JK Rowling tweeting about it as a sign she was just being a racist rather than pointing out horrendous offences against girls and women, which has been her whole deal with becoming Queen TERF in the first place. A reminder that you don't hate tribalist progs enough.
