Hold on, do they consider it :quote:Chinese:quote: food because it has rice? I don't see how freedom fries, gravy and a questionable sausage would qualify.

@Shreddedmanlet as the resident chink, can you confirm or deny if this is Chinese food?

Chinese immigrants like to buy fish and chip shops. They invented a weird hybrid cuisine that's vaguely like Chinese food but can be made with fish and chip shop equipment.

Most British people are aware that no one in China eats it

So they call it Chinese food just because a chink cooked it? Sounds pretty lacist.

A normal Chinese takeaway would include more components that are actually similar to Chinese food - vinegar-based sauces with meat and veg served with rice. I'm not really sure what the original picture is of.

Like sweet and sour, king do, black bean, Szechuan etc, they're all based on traditional Chinese food.

Why would you put that on your fish and chips though?

You wouldn't. You might have it with chips instead of rice but you wouldn't get a battered fish and a spam fritter alongside it.
