"Socially enforced monogamy" is a sociological term to describe societies in which the society pressures people (i.e., via shame) to be monogamous.

People have tried to run a news cycle about someone referencing this concept by pretending that they referenced monogamy-at-gunpoint like, three times at least. I know lobster-guy ran the cycle.

Realistically, there's no such thing as a society of humans with non-enforced monogamy, and believing that monogamy is required for modern civilization to thrive is a valid and arguable viewpoint.
