Except only janitors can flair posts. Users will not be able to flair posts. Paypigs will not be able to flair posts. You cannot sort by flair. You cannot filter by flair. You cannot omit by flair. This will never change.
Flairs in the traditional sense are FRICKING STUPID and hamstring future growth into the Hole-model if users can use them, or if they’re searchable, or filterable, or any such thing. They will regress us into the Reddit-derivative domain. This will not happen.
I did not even want to make this announcement because stupid people will ask for these stupid things, but they would anyway once they started to notice catty flairs from the cleaning crew. So I am getting ahead of the curve.
Now that you’ve been warned: If you request sort/search/filter/user-selected post flairs I will ban you.

Not turn us into Reddit; the issue isn’t fear of being Reddit, it’s twofold:
Reliance on derivative features. This isn’t meant to be an exact transplant of the subreddit. It’s not meant to be a content aggregator, either - Reddit and like-aggregators all have flairs. They’re useful for the content agg model. That is our origin, but it is not our platform nor our goal. Which segues into:
The traditional flair concepts cut the legs off of our momentum and long-term goals. The main drama feed is great. There will come a time, though, when we outgrow it and it becomes unusable due to the variety and volume of content in it. Flairs and filtering offer an inelegant solution to this, but it’s not the best solution, nor is it even a very good one. Holes will be the fix and Holes are the future.
Good commentary, just unaware of the roadmap.

Do things right or don’t do them. This isn’t a high level concept. Half-assing things and hiding behind a veneer of faux-“lol idc” is a massively insecure cope.
