the reason it became available to paypigs only is that it was a compromise between the jannies who wanna allow it for jannies only and the ones wanna allow it for everyone (i was in this team), but i realized how bad this looks after the fact (i.e. locking something previously free behind a paywall) and just went ahead and made it available for everyone unilaterally rn
I was joking you know but I think a lot of us definitely appreciate it. Either way, the new drama isn't NEARLY as big of a change or as ugly as the new reddit. I will never, ever use new reddit, but I'll probably warm up to new drama after it gets some more polishing.
