In our continued efforts to trim the unsightly fat created by the short-lived Nu-Ruqqus experiment, we have culled some more Holes. Owners have been compensated 3500 dramacoin for their loss. You’ll notice that this is 1500 less than the 5000 that was offered for a voluntary surrender a few weeks ago. You should have listened.
A list of shuttered Holes (no activity in a week+) follows. An asterisk (*) indicates that it was manually spared by special request. This time.

If you own a Hole and would like to trade it in for 4000dc, let me know in this thread. This sort of generosity is fleeting. If you own a Hole and do not want dc, but want the Hole to continue to exist, I would suggest starting to use it. Manual review will precede the next round of purging and zero-engagement spam will not cut it.

Carp what is the endgame for the holes? Why are you culling inactive ones? How does this make the site better? Just curious

User-created actively harm the site and shouldn’t exist in the first place. We let them ride for a bit to see if the userbase would do anything interesting with them against expectations and they haven’t, as predicted, so now they’re being removed. Active ones are being kept around, though, because it would be rude to delete them.

I see. So you’re going for a more top down approach with more hole curation and general gigajanny involvement than Reddit. Would you consider them a success so far?

That’s what it was always meant to be, but then the ruqqus bit happened and it seemed rude to just delete all the Holes. Mostly because I wanted @trickleyum to stay so all of their Holes are safe in perpetuity.
But no it’s not been a success so far, but all we’ve really tried to court is stupidpol. Once Aevann is done with midterms I’ll be putting together a package explaining what we have to offer to transplant communities and harassing Aevann to create a versatile UAT with new features that can be toggled on and off to suit prospective Holes’ needs. It will be a success, but we haven’t really tried very hard in any real sense just yet.

Fricking cool carp. I think you and the capy are an excellent team and have the vision, drive and skills to make rdrama what you want it to be.

That's very flattering to hear I am aware that the Holes might get removed and the posts folded into the default rdrama board eventually but I'm afraid a lot of people would be pissed at me for that. As it is now I can do my chanposting in /h/moemorphism without bothering anyone since the Hole can be blocked, but if I start chanposting on the general board people wouldn't be able to avoid it since a kind stranger awarded me the unblockable badge. Lots of chance for seethe-making but not very nice to all the fine people hanging out on rdrama I guess. Your ideas on future Holes and their function is really interesting though and would probably fit more serious communities like entire, super active subreddits and similar. Looking forward to see where things go from here.

Yeah your holes are here to stay, unless you up and vanish for like months at a time. The chans and anime girls with burgers and the like are critically important and they deserve a forever home and they will always have one here

I can’t help but think post tags would suit this use case better

Yeah it would work for what I do but it wouldn't be sufficient for the community within a community feel that larger groups would need in order to willingly be absorbed into the rdrama umbrella.
