Not the best to be honest. He’s not a fan of the crate and he’s not really food motivated at all. I tried to give him some peanut butter meant for dogs to entice him to get in and he ignored it. Then I tried regular peanut butter and he ignored that too. :marseyshrug:

He’s eating his kibble fine though and I’m hoping when he gets more settled in it’ll go smoother. He pretty much spent the first 7 weeks of his life outside with his litter mates and livestock and I’m sure being indoors all the time without any of them is quite a shocking change for the little dude.

What’s the best way to reward them if they’re not into food? All my dogs have been super food motivated so this is new territory for me. I’ve been using his kibble feedings to try to teach his name but he doesn’t care enough about the kibble to go into the crate to check it out. I’m thinking about moving the crate into a different room and seeing if that makes him anymore interested in checking it out.

so idk this breed but imma try to help as much as I can if u want

does he like toys and/or chewers? if he got a ✨fav ✨ snuggy or chew toy he only gets it in the crate kk that’s his special crate toy but u gotta find what he considers high value n that’s harder with a puppy

he might become more food motivated if u withhold food but u can’t do that with a puppy just yet he needs to grow. We took larger breed dogs off puppy formula at 6-8 months so they didn’t get growth spurts n injure joints etc but this a small breed so keep him on puppy til ur vet says kk don’t cut him til at least a year pls no matter what ur vet says he needs the testerone from his developing balls before u take em out

he misses his litter mates…did ur breeder give u a take home package with a blankie he used before? if so wrap it around smtm that ticks like a clock (or u can find snuggy toys that have a heartbeat online) those smells good otherwise just make it a good space for him u know him best

don’t force him into the crate n also don’t join him in the crate I seen like libs sleep in the crate with them in the beginning but u setting urself up for failure in the long run unfortunately bc that’ll usually cause speration anxiety

praise the living shit outta him in a more high pitched voice but don’t give him high energy bc most pups just kinda sperg n forget themselves and/or training but def tons n tons of yess good boy when he goes into the crate on his own

tire him out n when he needs to sleep make sure it’s in his crate not ur bed (sry bb)

lemme think some more…I’ll write another comment when it comes to me had a long day so far n kinda stupid rn sry sweetie

stay patient it’s a virtue 🙏🏾🙏🏾
