Two different species. Euros nearly hunted the Eurasian beaver to extinction centuries ago, which made the North American beaver that much more valuable. Fortunately, Yakub's creations realized the error of their ways in the early 20th century and have managed to successfully reintroduce Eurasian beavers across the continent. There's well over a million of them living in Europe today.

Because European Beaver was eaten to near extinction and it doesn't respond well to rehabilitation, except where I live, which is why I can continue eating it. Had one yesterday actually.

That's also the real reason why Columbus discovered America. Now that North America has gained independence the access to beaver produce is once again scarce in western Europe. That's why their quality of living has been slowly declining for the past couple of decades
